No matter where we live, we all have a version of that weather truth. I’ve lived in New Mexico, Ohio, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Alabama, and now Utah, and it was a fair statement in each location.
However, Utah has added a caveat, which is “Or drive 5 miles and it will change.”
Saturday was a cloudy day when we headed out for breakfast, but no precipitation. About 3 miles down the road it began to rain. About 2 miles later it began to spit snow. By the time we reached the restaurant, all of 10 miles from the apartment, it was a full-blown snowstorm. By the time we finished eating and some very quick shopping nearby, there was at least 3 inches on the ground, with no sign of the snow slacking off.
Driving back to the apartment, though, we saw the reverse. About the same place it turned to snow on us earlier, it turned to rain, and when we reached the apartment… no precip at all. Yet the apartment is at a higher altitude and is closer to the mountains than the restaurant. Go figure.
I have said it before and expect to continue saying it… this place absolutely fascinates me!
Edit: I check the weather every morning. No precip expected, just cloudy. Mindy just called and said it was snowing on campus. I just looked out the window here and we already have like a 1/2” of snow on the ground. Yeah, I love this place!!!
